When getting out of your favourite chair becomes the hardest part of the day
Struggling to stand up from a low armchair is one of the first everyday tasks to get harder. A powered lift recliner can help you stand, rest and put your feet up.
Most of us never think about standing up from a chair. Then one day the favourite armchair feels lower than it used to, the cushions sink a little further, and getting up takes two or three goes and a push on the armrests. Some people start avoiding the comfy chair altogether and sit on a hard dining chair instead, just because it is easier to get out of.
Why it gets harder
Standing from a low, soft seat needs strong legs, good balance and enough room to lean forward. After an illness, a hospital stay, joint pain or simply with age, one of those pieces can be missing. Struggling to stand is tiring, and rushing it can be risky.
How a lift recliner helps
A lift recliner has a powered base that tilts the whole chair gently forward and up, so you start standing from a higher position and finish on your feet with less effort. Sitting down works the same way in reverse.
The Enjoycare Quad Motor Lift Recliner (Classic Frame, EKS72) and the Wide Frame version (EKS97) go further, with four motors that move the headrest, lumbar support, backrest and legrest independently. That means you can:
- sit upright for meals and reading
- lift to stand when you are ready to get up
- raise your feet to rest tired legs
- recline for the TV, or lie back for a proper rest
Both have massage and heat, an illuminated handset, a Li-ion battery with adaptor and a 160 kg safe working load, in Petite or Standard sizes.
Getting the fit right
Seat height, seat width and depth all matter for a lift recliner, so it is worth trying one before you decide. Visit us in a showroom, ask your OT, or contact us for help choosing. You can also see the full range of lift recliners.
